Power Planning!

How would you like to enter the holiday season (Thanksgiving and Christmas), in peace and confidence? Where your gifts are wrapped and placed under a beautiful tree, the house is clean and smells like cinnamon and cloves. Would you like to be rested and ready to be a blessing to your family and able to spend time focusing on the real reason for the holidays-Jesus?
Sound like a wonderful dream? Well, this is one dream that can continue even when you open your eyes! Welcome to power planning! While there are many ways to plan for the holidays, one that has been a real blessing to me is Organized Christmas. You can get on this website and print out the pages to make a Christmas journal.
You can put all these planning pages in a holiday journal along with decorating ideas; magazine articles and notes about what worked last year.
Here are a few ideas to add to your journal:
De-clutter your home to make decorating a pleasant task
Start with a clean house
Keep decorating simple by planning what you want in each room. ( It’s more effective to have a few be
beautiful things that you really love, then to have lots of cheap-looking decorations piled around the house.)
Take some time to inventory what you already have, so you aren’t tempted to buy every shiny thing you see while shopping!
Find out what YOUR family enjoys doing during the holidays.
Find some ideas for decorations you can make with your children. They will love being involved and you’ll make some great memories too.
To help spread the joy of Christmas throughout December, consider reading a scripture verse from the Christmas story (from the book of Luke is a good choice) write it down, and add it to a wreath surrounding your nativity scene or hang it on your tree.
Find ways to keep Jesus the focus of your attention.
Remember, there are many ways to celebrate; Make sure your celebrations fit your family.
For some real “joy”, think of this acronym; J-Jesus, O-Others, Y-You, to help keep things in perspective.
