Works For Me Wednesday: Fruit Tip

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

I’d like to share my Works For Me Wednesday tip with you.

When my husband’s family comes over for Thanksgiving we are having cookies and fruit for desert.

One of the most unappetizing things to see is a tray full of brown fruit.  Yuck!

An easy way to stop the browning is to immerse the cut fruit into a bowl of lemon water for a few minutes before drying and serving.

Put the juice of  one lemon into a large bowl and fill with water, soak the fruit and you’re done!

I wanted to let you all know about a wonderful give away that’s happening over at Crafty Crow.

Baby Bear Shop is giving away one of their coy wax candles.

I REALLY like this candle.

Crafty Crow has great ideas, so you’ll enjoy looking around after you enter the drawing!

Fall’s Gold

Monday, November 17th, 2008

We live on five acres in the woods and with all the trees changing colors I feel like I’m living in a painting.

This fall the trees in middle Tennessee are the most beautiful I’ve seen in a long time.

Genesis 8:22″ While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

What has fall been like in your area?

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Art Intro

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

Since I started painting for my shop I have had art on the brain!

I have been inspired by many things I’ve found online, but this young lady makes me look at her paintings and say “How did she do that?!”    :-)

I’d like to introduce you to a very talented young lady I just found out about. Brezzy Tulip is the  homeschooled daughter of Robinlyn (Robin’s Egg Blue).  I just did a post about her here.

I am so inpressed with this young lady, she is one of the most talented artists that I’ve ever seen.

If she lived nearby I’d beg her to let me take lessons!

Works For Me Wednesday: Toothpick Trick

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Here is my Works For Me Wednesday tip hosted by Rocks In My Dryer

I thought I’d share something that has really helped me.  Our daughter is two and is usually a great eater.  But, sometimes she refuses to eat her meat.

This tip has been a meal saver.  at Call Her Blessed wrote this post. She said that if you give a kid a toothpick to eat with, then they will eat just about anything on their plate.

Guess what, it works!

In Flanders Fields

by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

This is the story behind this moving poem.
