Wool Dryer Balls From Good Mama

My Mother in law just gave me some wool dryer balls that my aunt made.  I’ve been wanting to make these for a while, but have never taken the time to do it!

I used them on the mountain of laundry that I washed yesterday and they worked really well.  My aunt said that when she uses 8-10 of them she is able to cut her drying time in half!

Saving money and having no static cling… naturally, that Works For Me!

If you want to make your own dryer balls, GoodMama has the instructions!

Be sure to check back on Friday for the latest L. Herbert Design prints that will be featured at Nesting Place!

Laryssa, thanks for sharing this! I have been considering buying those rubber (or whatever they’re made out of) dryer balls, but I’d rather make my own!

  2. Rona Says:

I’ve been wanting to purchase dryer balls for some time now. I read that they make the clothes softer.

I have a couple of the plastic ones from the pound shop, but I never remember to sue them. Must try this week.

Wool Dryer Balls are awesome! Tennis balls start to leave rubber smelling clothing, tin foil balls suddenly break down at about the 6th time in dryer from the heat (leaves tin shards all over clothing). Plastic and rubber have chemicals/tear at towels and hems and are noisy. Raveled Wool Dryer Balls can tend to unravel after a few months use. If you don’t want to make your own, Wool Dryer balls made at http://www.WoolDryerBalls.com are awesome and 100% wool and (no unraveling here!) They work so well (cut drying time/no softener needed anymore and saves energy)that I began making for friends and family. The online store and site where you can read more and see testimonials is http://www.WoolDryerBalls.com. They are wonderful!

Hmmm… I didn’t know dryer balls could be made out of wool! I thought it was some kind of rubber.

Very cool! I have lots of leftover wool yarn. Thanks for linking to the instructions; they’re very good.

  8. Melissa Says:

So, they really work? Do they make a lot of noise in the dryer? It seems like a neat idea, if they really do cut the drying time down!! I might have to find some.

    Kimm,
I’d rather make my own too! I think I’ll try to make more, I only have 3.

    Rona,
My clothes are coming out soft and cling free.

    Zoe,
You won’t regret using them. I just keep them in the dryer, so I don’t forget to use them.

    Jerri,
Some may be made of some kind of rubber, but these wool ones work great!

    Wardeh,
    You’re welcome!

    Melissa,
They do really work! I didn’t notice much noise in the dryer. I think you need to have at least 6 to make the drying time a lot less.

    Rosanne,
    Thanks for the info!

Cool! I have never heard of these. My daughters love to make things like this. It sounds like it could make great Christmas gifts. Thanks! Lisa~
