Sunday, January 11th, 2009
Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. John 8:12

” I have hope when I think of this: The Lord’s love never ends. His mercies never stop. They are new every morning.”
Lamentations 3:21-23
(Remember that my first tutorial will be posted on Monday, please be sure to stop by!)

John 1:1-4
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”.
Isaiah 9:6

Here are some verses from Romans that are very precious to me.
Romans 5:1 & 2
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory….And now we can rejoicein our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.” (NLT)

“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

The world is often a scary, depressing place. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with economic problems, wars and corrupt people in power.
It’s easy feel helpless, hopeless and angry, living in a world that you can’t seem to change.
As a Christian I know the only hope for the hurting and dying world we live in is Jesus.
In John 14:6 Jesus says “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
I have been teaching my children that love is shown by saying and doing.
As Christians our love is shown to the world in the same way.
James 2:14-16 says “What is the use, brothers, if you claim to have faith but you don’t do good works? Can that kind of faith save you? If a brother or sister is destitute, lacking clothes or food, and you just say to them, `Go in peace; be warm and filled,’ but you don’t meet their physical needs, what good is that?”
Amanda Blake Soule at Soule Mama has started a new blog called Mama to Mama. The projects from this blog will help us put action to our love of others. I learned about this blog from Aimee, she is joining in the current project to sew hats for newborns in Haiti.
Let’s sew some seeds of love and hope…

James 5:7
“Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.”
Luke 10:2
“Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”

Proverbs 16:18
Pride goes before destruction,
and a haughty spirit before a fall.
James 4:6
“God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
1 Peter 5:5-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
