As I am unpacking and unwinding from BlissDom I thought I tell you all about some fun Valentines crafts I’ve seen…I promise I’ll post about BlissDom as soon as possible! ;-)

Jodified has a wonderful felt garland tutorial.

You can find the instructions for origami butterflies at UK Lass In US.

My VERY favorite are the artsy hearts from Little Birdie Secrets. They are SO cute!

Cabin Fever Crafts

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Y’all we’ve been having a touch of cabin fever. A cold front hit Tennessee on Wednesday night.  The highs have been in the 20’s and the lows are single digits.  I know my readers north of the Mason Dixon line are laughing right now because I think this is cold!  So needless to say we have been inside.
Because I homeschool our 8 year old son and a 2 year old daughter we stay at home A LOT.  I’m happy to be home, but when the option to go outside and play is totally out of the question we need something fun to do inside!

Things that help the little folks at our house stay happy:

*Finger painting

*Coloring

* Play Dough

*Legos

*Dolls and tea parties

Whip Up and Crafty Crow often have some great crafts for moms and for kids.

Here are three of my favorites:

Works For Me Wednesday: Christmas Tags

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

Here is this week’s Works For Me Wednesday post.

As I was growing up we would save the beautiful Christmas cards that family and friends would send us.

But not in the way you might think!

We would make them into Christmas tags for the next year’s gifts.

Christmas Mail

Christmas Mail

After I got married I continued the tradition and even inherited some of my Mother’s tags!

I have been adding to the bag of tags every year.  Some of them are almost as old as I am!

When I wrap gifts I’ll sort through the tags and find the ones that match the package just right.

Here is how we would do things growing up:

After Christmas was over we would take the tree down and put things away till next year.

During a break we would sit down, take our scissors and carefully cut around the most beautiful parts of our Christmas cards.

As we would make these cards into new Christmas tags for next year, we would be reminded of our loved ones.

The love they sent through the mail will live on through the years.

Thanksgiving Tip

Friday, November 21st, 2008

I’m joining in on the Thanksgiving fun going on at The Inspired Room, head on over and see all the great ideas everyone has posted!

Our family has enjoyed doing versions of the “thankful tree” for a long time.  It’s really sweet to look back and see what everyone has written over the years.

This year we will be using leaf cutouts and hanging them on a small bare tree I’ve put into a planter.

Each person can write what they are thankful for and hang the leaf on the tree.

It really helps us to stay focused on why we are celebrating!

(I’ll be sure to take pictures of our Thanksgiving and show them to you as soon as I can.)

I REALLY like this candle.

Crafty Crow has great ideas, so you’ll enjoy looking around after you enter the drawing!
